I’ve had a few requests for an anger management blog post so alas, I decided to write one. I wish I could include all components of anger management but that would be a very long post.
Anger management issues don’t plague just one gender, class, sexuality, or race. It is something anyone can go through in their lives. So no one is alone. Statistically men are more likely to have anger management issues however it isn’t uncommon for a women to need help in this area.
Anger is a natural human emotion and only becomes a problem when it is felt too intensely, felt too frequently, or expressed inappropriately.
For this blog post I decided to write on one of my favorite anger management components which is Self-Talk.
Recently I have had some request for me to go into more details about the "5 Basic Needs" that I referenced in my Valentine's Day blog "Me, Myself, and I." I wrote an extended blog on this topic back in November 2015 for Counseling South Austin and I was going to copy and paste in on my website.
However, after having my own website for this short period of time I have discovered myself and from seasoned private practice owners that if I did that it would disrupt my Search Engine Optimization (SEO). Which is how search engines allow people to find me when they search certain topics. Apparently search engines do not like double posts on multiple websites.
Good news though! It is encouraged to link to other websites which is something I already do very, very frequently.

Lately, I have been struggling with what to write for my blog. I had a complete block and couldn’t snap out of it. Instead of fixating on trying to force myself to be creative, I decided to continue my yearly binge of one of my favorite shows, Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
I was already on season 6 (a personal favorite) and the episode titled “Once More with Feeling” was next in my cue. This is one of my favorites because it is a musical episode. A demon forces all of the characters to dance and sing their inner thoughts and secrets.
The first song of the episode is called “Going Through the Motions.” As I listened (and sang along), I began to think how true to life this song can be. Most of us aren’t battling demons and vampires like Buffy does, but the song is about feeling stuck and playing the part that is expected of us.
